Sight word lesson at Wat Chetupon Temple School

This lesson at Wat Chetupon temple school began with the study of 15 sight words.  Taken from the list of 220 Dolch words, these are words students should know by sight.

I wrote the words on the black board, and the students copied them into their notebooks.  Learning to write in English is part of the lesson.

Direct instruction on the pronunciation of the words, followed by guided practice.

  1. Another great way to expose a student to sight words is playing the game Erudition. It incoroprates Dolch, Fry as well as a few other sight word lists.
